INNOVATIVE PEDAGOGIES for the delivery of GATE programmes in the arts.

 

This presentation will look at Te Manu Aute’s innovative teaching and learning pedagogies involved in teaching the arts to gifted and talented students, and the unique ways the programme has used Maori teaching methodologies underpinned by current research and detailed needs analysis.

The project is doing this through innovative delivery involving a combination of actual and virtual webcast classes:

focussing on specific groups of gifted students as identified by schools identifying Maori student needs based around teaching and learning programmes, incorporating the Maori teaching pedagogies engaging under achieving gifted students as identified by schools in special topics designed to personal interests and strengths enhancing home and school partnerships through a specific e-learning support programme and specialist teachers working in the regular classroom meeting the needs of rural students through flexible groupings and e-clusters meeting the specific needs of low decile schools through learning centres Delegates will see:

how alternative delivery modes are able to engage different students how classes are organised and managed for delivery important lessons learned from students in virtual delivery practical engagement strategies for webcasting to students how you can encourage creativity using internet delivery
